Why black and white contrast?

During pregnancy, vision is the one sense babies don’t use – it only begins developing after birth.
Visual development is closely linked to brain development, and it needs a variety of stimuli from the outside world.

At birth, babies can see only very short distances – around 20 to 40 cm, the perfect space between a mother’s face and her baby during feeding.

While visual clarity is still low, newborns instinctively recognize faces and respond best to strong contrast.
Black and white provides the highest possible contrast, making it ideal for stimulating vision.
